Assembly Speaker Emeritus John A. Pérez Endorses Ardy Kassakhian for Assembly

Ardy Kassakhian today announced that California State Assembly Speaker Emeritus John A. Pérez has endorsed his campaign for Assembly District 43. Having served as the Speaker of the Assembly from 2010 to 2014, Pérez was the first openly LGBT leader of the Assembly and currently serves as a University of California Regent. Speaker Emeritus John A. Pérez joins a large group of current and former members of the State Assembly who have endorsed Ardy Kassakhian, including Raul Bocanegra, Steven Bradford, Ian Calderon, Matt Dababneh, Mike Gipson, Jackie Goldberg, Adrin Nazarian, and Anthony Portantino. Kassakhian is also endorsed by two former Assemblymembers who represented District 43: former Majority Leader Dario Frommer and Los Angeles City Councilmember Paul Krekorian.

Major endorsement comes on the heels of growing support from current and former members of the California State Assembly

GLENDALE – Ardy Kassakhian today announced that California State Assembly Speaker Emeritus John A. Pérez has endorsed his campaign for Assembly District 43. Having served as the Speaker of the Assembly from 2010 to 2014, Pérez was the first openly LGBT leader of the Assembly and currently serves as a University of California Regent.

Speaker Emeritus John A. Since launching his campaign last year, he has raised more than $470,000 and received endorsements from State Treasurer John Chiang, Secretary of State Alex Padilla, State Superintendent of Instruction Tom Torlakson, and Congressman Brad Sherman.

With the official endorsement of the Los Angeles County Federation of Labor, AFL-CIO, Ardy Kassakhian stands as the choice of working families and has earned the backing of the California School Employees Association, the Los Angeles Police Protective League, SEIU California, IATSE Local 80, Laborers’ Pacific Southwest Region (LiUNA!), Teamsters Joint Council 42, and the Glendale City Employees Association. 

About Ardy Kassakhian

Ardy Kassakhian grew up and attended public schools in Glendale. He was first elected Glendale City Clerk in 2005. As Clerk, he has reduced government waste by introducing environmentally sound practices, made election information easier to access and worked to increase voter participation. Ardy graduated from UCLA and the Executive Program at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government. He lives with his wife Courtney and their young son in Glendale.

Ardy Kassakhian is running to represent Assembly District 43, which includes the communities of Burbank, Glendale, La Cañada Flintridge, La Crescenta-Montrose and the Los Angeles neighborhoods of Atwater Village, East Hollywood, Franklin Hills, Hollywood Hills, Los Feliz and Silver Lake.
