Endorsements from powerful education groups solidify Ardy’s standing as the clear choice of teachers and educators

GLENDALE – Ardy Kassakhian today announced that both the California Federation of Teachers (CFT) and the Faculty Association of California Community Colleges (FACCC) have endorsed his State Assembly campaign. The announcement comes on the heels of the powerful endorsements from the California Teachers Association (CTA) and United Teachers Los Angeles (UTLA). With the backing of State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Torlakson and LAUSD Board President Steve Zimmer, Ardy Kassakhian stands as the clear choice of teachers and educators.

Composed of 135 local unions affiliated with the American Federation of Teachers (AFT), the California Federation of Teachers represents over 120,000 educational employees working at every level of the education system in California, from Head Start to the University of California.

“As the son of a school teacher and a proud product of public schools, there is no endorsement more important than that of our teachers,” stated Ardy Kassakhian. “I am honored to have their support in the fight for more funding for our school children and classrooms.”

Established in 1953, the Faculty Association of California Community Colleges represents members throughout the 113 community colleges in the state. FACCC’s backing further solidifies Ardy’s support from education leaders, including L.A. Community College Board President Scott J. Svonkin, all five members of the Glendale Community College Board, Assembly Speaker Emeritus John A. Pérez, who currently serves as a University of California Regent, and Los Angeles education advocate Assemblymember Jackie Goldberg (ret.).

“As a product of California’s public education system, Ardy Kassakhian understands the importance of providing stable funding for our colleges and support for our faculty,” stated FACCC Executive Director Jonathan Lightman. “FACCC PAC is proud to endorse Ardy Kassakhian for Assembly.”
