Ardy Kassakhian today announced that the California Teachers Association (CTA) has endorsed his State Assembly campaign. With over 325,000 members, the CTA was founded in 1863 and is the state’s largest professional employee organization. “We trust teachers with our most precious resource – our children. They work hard to educate and mold our kids into the people they will become just as my teachers shaped my future. I am honored and humbled to have earned their support and will fight hard to make sure they have the resources they need to do their job,” stated Ardy Kassakhian.

Kassakhian emerges as the clear choice for teachers and education leaders

GLENDALE – Ardy Kassakhian today announced that the California Teachers Association (CTA) has endorsed his State Assembly campaign. With over 325,000 members, the CTA was founded in 1863 and is the state’s largest professional employee organization.

“We trust teachers with our most precious resource – our children. They work hard to educate and mold our kids into the people they will become just as my teachers shaped my future. I am honored and humbled to have earned their support and will fight hard to make sure they have the resources they need to do their job,” stated Ardy Kassakhian.

The son of a public school teacher and the official candidate of the California School Employees Association (CSEA), Ardy Kassakhian has received an outpouring of support from teachers and education leaders, including State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Torlakson, LAUSD Board President Steve Zimmer, L.A. Community College Board President Scott J. Svonkin, Glendale Board of Education President Dr. Armina Gharpetian, all five members of the Glendale Community College Board, and a majority of the members of the Burbank Board of Education. Additionally, Kassakhian is endorsed by Assembly Speaker Emeritus John A. Pérez, who currently serves as a University of California Regent, and Los Angeles education advocate Assemblymember Jackie Goldberg (Ret.). 

About Ardy Kassakhian

Ardy Kassakhian grew up and attended public schools in Glendale. He was first elected Glendale City Clerk in 2005. As Clerk, he has reduced government waste by introducing environmentally sound practices, made election information easier to access and worked to increase voter participation. Ardy graduated from UCLA and the Executive Program at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government. He lives with his wife Courtney and their young son in Glendale.

Ardy Kassakhian is running to represent Assembly District 43, which includes the communities of Burbank, Glendale, La Cañada Flintridge, La Crescenta-Montrose and the Los Angeles neighborhoods of Atwater Village, East Hollywood, Franklin Hills, Hollywood Hills, Los Feliz and Silver Lake.
