FORMER DEMOCRATIC PRESIDENTIAL NOMINEE GOV. MICHAEL DUKAKIS ENDORES ARDY KASSAKHIAN FOR ASSEMBLY

Democratic leader and educator highlights Kassakhian’s commitment to public service and human rights

GLENDALE – Ardy Kassakhian today announced that former Democratic Presidential nominee Michael Dukakis has endorsed his campaign for Assembly District 43. Holding the distinction as the longest-serving Governor in Massachusetts history, Dukakis currently serves as a visiting professor in the Department of Public Policy at the UCLA Luskin School of Public Affairs.

“Ardy Kassakhian takes his job seriously and has done it well. He knows how to bring people together and build consensus around important issues. He is intelligent, thoughtful and strongly committed to public service, and I expect that he will be a great member of the California State Assembly,” stated Gov. Dukakis.

“Thanks particularly to his Armenian background, he has also been a strong fighter for human and civil rights, especially in the field of genocide. Dukakis, a Greek-American and founding member of The Next Generation Initiative, a non-profit educational organization dedicated to youth leadership building.

The official candidate of the Democratic Party of the San Fernando Valley (DPSFV), Ardy Kassakhian has demonstrated broad community support. With the official endorsement of the Los Angeles County Federation of Labor, AFL-CIO, Ardy Kassakhian stands as the choice of working families and has earned the backing of the California School Employees Association, the Los Angeles Police Protective League, SEIU California, IATSE Local 80, Laborers’ Pacific Southwest Region (LiUNA!), Teamsters Joint Council 42, and the Glendale City Employees Association.
